Second Grade Person

TrackCoach,
I am wondering if you are talking about a girl whose name was Mary Ann O'Connell?? I remember her being in our room and don't know what happened to her. Anyway, that is it for my guess. How is every one?

Hey Marty!
I have no idea who Barry is remembering (Why'd she have car bomb photos? Let's see, that would have been 1975-76 so maybe whoever gave her the photos was part of the SLA? Who knows!) but then I didn't happen along until February of second grade.
Valentine's Day, to be precise. Man, you think being the new kid sucks, try being the new kid on Valentine's Day when everybody's slipping valentines into each other's little decorated shoe boxes but it's your first day and you don't know anybody and nobody knows you.
Come to think of it, though, I don't really remember it being all that traumatic. I don't even remember the actual valentine exchange, so I guess it wasn't so bad after all.
And hey, Barry, I do remember when Mrs. Lovell fell over in that desk. She threatened us and forbade us to tell anybody. I wonder if enough time has passed that she would laugh about it if we ran into her and mentioned it now. Hhmm. I mean, really, it's been like, 30 years, so she'd probably be able to see the humor in it by now, right?

Do you all remember her coming to school with the black eye and later with a broken arm? I remember her talking about how often they "moved". Looking back, she was probably living with abusive parents (or at least one) which would explain why a 2nd grader would have those type pictures. How sad for her and you have to wonder if she broke the cycle or became a victim.
